Appointments with Consultants and Coaches

When an emergency arises, clearly it is impossible to keep an appointment. You need to take care of them (illness, work crisis, accident, child care issues, etc.). However, when you have not accomplished what you hoped you would or have not done what was discussed previously, it is better to keep the appointment instead of canceling it. By keeping the appointment, you can have a very short session to do any or all of these:

  1. clarify some aspect of what you are working on;
  2. get a question answered that has arisen since your last consultation;
  3. agree on some specific information the consultant/coach can send to you;
  4. agree on a new assignment the consultant/coach can start working on for you; and
  5. schedule the next appointment.
Keeping appointments, when possible, saves time and helps you and your consultant/coach become more productive.
